Wakefield Trinity Secures Super League Spot with A Grade

Wakefield Trinity has officially returned to the Betfred Super League. Their promotion was confirmed through the new grading system based on fandom, on-field performance, finance, stadium, and community, ensuring top-tier rugby league action for fans.

Wakefield Trinity's return to the Betfred Super League is confirmed with the release of the first official grades by the RFL and IMG. Even though Trinity defeated Toulouse 36-0 to win the Championship Grand Final, their promotion was reliant on the grading system introduced last April, which eliminated automatic promotion and relegation.

Grading is based on scores across five categories: fandom, on-field performance, finance, stadium, and community. Wakefield, along with Leigh and Castleford, achieved scores above 15, earning an A grade and effectively securing their protection from relegation, provided they maintain their score next year. Hull FC, following a poor season, lost their A grade, while Huddersfield and Salford kept their Super League spots despite receiving B grades.

Toulouse, despite finishing just under half a point behind 12th place, failed to earn promotion to the Super League, even though winning the Championship Grand Final wouldn't have sufficed. St Helens topped the standings with 17.02 points out of 20, closely followed by Wigan and Leeds. Keighley, previously critics of the grading system, benefited by moving up 11 places to 19th position with a B grade score of 9.02.
