Arsenal, Newcastle United, and others are reportedly after Leroy Sané, as his future remains unclear beyond 2025, as he won't reveal whether he will continue with Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich's contract renewal talks with Leroy Sané's representatives have been tricky, Ekrem Konur wrote, adding that the German club has reportedly insisted that if he extends with Bayern, Sané has to reduce his pay. Since arriving at Bayern from Manchester City at a then-world-record fee back in 2020, Sané has played 125 Bundesliga games, scoring 29 goals.
However, the club's financial situation seems to have nipped its ambition at the post, at least regarding contract negotiations. Bayern are said to want a new deal but only on reduced terms, a directive that's led to a stalemate in negotiations. His contract runs until only June 2025, and with his access zone only toward the end of January 1, 2024, clubs outside of Germany will likely start talking to him as early as January 1, 2024. In perfect timing for this change of date, top European clubs now begin to keep a close eye and position themselves to be part of the hopefuls for the Germany international.
For Arsenal, interest in Sané comes at the right moment. While Gunners have recently reinforced their attack with Raheem Sterling's loan move, the possibility of losing Leandro Trossard, who is in a lucrative transfer to Saudi Arabia, could raise a gap that Sané would fit well in. That could be just what the doctor ordered to add to Mikel Arteta's side as it looks to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts: experience, pace, and technical prowess in the playing of Sané.
Newcastle United, too are looking forward to making a telling statement in the transfer market as they continue consolidating their position among the Premier League's elite. Signing Sané will add loads of experience coupled with quality into Eddie Howe's ranks, and all that without having to pay any astronomical transfer fees for him. With Newcastle United looking at making smart, strategic signings, Sané's availability on more favorable financial terms may be an opportunity too good to let go.
Not surprising that Barcelona is interested in Sané, given the work being done under Xavi to rebuild the team. Financially challenged, Catalan giants have been pretty shrewd in attracting big-time performers, and Sané's present state at Bayern may make him an attractive option. With the January transfer window coming to a close, the attention will grow around Leroy Sané due to clubs eager to capitalize on the deadlocked contract situation. Bayern Munich is under no illusions that they are slowly running out of time to sort new terms with their ace winger or else risk losing him to one of Europe's top clubs.
