The 24-year-old left Chelsea for Atletico Madrid this summer.
Conor Gallagher is determined to secure a more prominent role within the England squad while embracing a fresh start at both the international and club levels. The 24-year-old midfielder, who has been a regular presence in Gareth Southgate's squad since his debut in 2021, is eager to make a stronger impact as he prepares for the upcoming Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Although Gallagher has earned 18 caps, opportunities to start for England have been limited. Now, under interim head coach Lee Carsley, who has brought in four uncapped players for the squad, Gallagher is keen to prove himself in a new-look group.
Reflecting on his journey with the national team, Gallagher said, "I think time-wise, it's my third year with England, but I still don't feel like I'm a senior player. I've still got work to do to reach that level on and off the pitch. I'm really happy to be playing for England and hope to develop and become a bigger part of the team."
Gallagher, who recently transferred from Chelsea to LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid, added that the new faces in the squad bring a fresh energy. "It's a really exciting group with so much talent, and I'm looking forward to being part of it."
Having spent much of his international career under Southgate, Gallagher admitted it felt strange not to have his former boss, who led England to the Euro 2024 final, around. "Gareth was brilliant for me and did an amazing job with England. I wish him the best, but I'm excited to work with Lee Carsley again. I know him well from the Under-21s, and he deserves this opportunity."

On the club front, Gallagher is embarking on a new adventure with Atletico Madrid, having signed a five-year contract with the Spanish side for a reported £33.7 million. Despite featuring heavily for Chelsea last season, Gallagher felt it was time for a change.
Reflecting on his time at Stamford Bridge, he said, "I have only good things to say about Chelsea. I'm thankful for everything they did for me, from the academy to the first team. The fans really warmed to me, and I leave with special memories."

Gallagher's move to Atletico Madrid, where he hopes to continue his growth, came after careful consideration. "As soon as I knew Atletico were interested, I was excited. It's a massive club in an amazing city, and I'm looking forward to the years ahead."
Now, with a new club and renewed international ambitions, Gallagher is focused on making his mark both for England and Atletico Madrid in the seasons to come.
