Liverpool and Manchester City in Pursuit of Crystal Palace Duo Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton

The dynamic duo in Crystal Palace, Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton, has now headlined a fierce battle between Liverpool and Manchester City, with both clubs targeting early double swoop in the windows. The two top giants in Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, who are very much tracking Eze's situation, have now opened up to switching next year, according to Ekrem Konur. Eze has played a vital role for Palace since signing from Queens Park Rangers in 2020, and his name was frequently involved in transfer speculation this past summer. However, his release clause of £68 million restrained potential takers and meant he stayed in South London.

While this might have endeared Eze to Gritty South Londoners, Palace has struggled in the opening games of the 2024-25 season and appears not to have met his expectations, and Eze could be on the move next summer. The England international has scored once in seven appearances for the Eagles this season, but his influence goes well beyond goals as a creative spark in Palace's midfield.

Both Liverpool and City, heavy to the brim with talent, seem to want Eze's dynamic presence for themselves as they look to reinforce their attacking lines in hopes of clinching a deal before competition picks up. Spurs have also been scouting around for him, but it is definitely City and Liverpool who are ahead of them in negotiating the deal with Palace. Besides Eze, Wharton is a rising star that clubs are keeping an eye on. The 20-year-old midfielder graduated from Blackburn Rovers academy, joined Palace, and immediately stole attention despite the team's failing performances.

Liverpool and City, meanwhile, are said to be ready to sign Wharton in January but could run into a stumbling block in the form of Palace's assessment of the young talent. Crystal Palace believes the young midfielder is worth €65 million, a sum considerably higher than Liverpool and City have quoted—around €45 million is what the offer is floating at. Despite this, both clubs will likely press on with negotiations to seal a deal that would bring Wharton into both of their squads for the second half of the season. That, however, would leave a gaping void as Crystal Palace are already struggling with problems on the form front this season. But the financial injection could be what the club needs to rebuild their squad.

Other interesting transfer rumors making waves in Europe include Arsenal youngster Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, whom Borussia Dortmund has been monitoring after showing incredible performances in the club's Premier League 2 side. Juventus keeps close tabs on Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin in hopes of improving its options in a lineup. According to reports, Real Madrid informed Arsenal about their interest in William Saliba. Gunners, however, believe that the 23-year-old French defender is expected to stay in North London. Just before January and the transfer window opens, Liverpool and Manchester City fans will surely be watching out for whether these giants can make the right double swoop on two of Crystal Palace's brightest players.
